➢ Our role

Working closely with the representatives of the health care network, our Access to communications technologies team is hard at work assessing the needs of referred clients in the areas of:

• access to computers and written communication;
• oral communication and augmentative oral communication;
• adaptive telephone systems and environmental control.

Over the course of these evaluations, various equipment, designed to optimize the autonomy of persons with physical disabilities can be tested and evaluated, specifically:

• adaptive telephones;
• special access (using head movements, ocular tracking or other means);
• computers with voice synthesis;
• speech recognition systems…

Following the evaluation, our team will:

• recommend the use of a specific type of equipment;
• program the recommended equipment;
• train you in its use;
• ensure a follow-up.

➢ Covering the cost of aids to communication

If need be, the requests for subsidies can be forwarded to the various claims agencies such as:

• Programme ministériel des aides techniques à la communication (PMATCOM);
• Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ);
• Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CSST);
• Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS).
