Mobility aids: ministerial program
The Institut de Réadaptation Gingras-Lindsay-de-Montréal (IRGLM) manages the ministerial program for the allocation and repair of mobility aids for the Western Quebec clientele.
The devices affected by this program are:
As such, we are responsible to grant financial aid for the allocation and repair of these devices as per the guidelines set forth in the management guide of the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec (MSSS).
We are responsible for receiving and analyzing requests from the occupational therapists or physiotherapists working in the home environment and, to make a decision based on the eligibility criteria set forth by the Ministry.
➢ Obtaining a device: user information
Obtaining a device rests on a global evaluation of your needs, in your environment and as performed by an occupational therapist or a physiotherapist.
To make a request, you must refer to the CLSC or CSSS in your area or to a rehabilitation centre in your region.

How to make a request?
You are an occupational therapist or physiotherapist and wish to make a request on behalf of a client ? To do so, you must refer to the appropriate management guide and fill out the required forms. All this information is available on the Web site of the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec (MSSS):
New or reconditioned device?
As stated in the management guide of the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS), reconditioned (upgraded) equipment must be offred before a new device. Reconditioned equipment meets very high quality standards.
When you make a request, you must consult the list of reconditioned devices to see if one of these meets your recommended requirements.
If a reconditioned device meets with your requirements, make your request according to the request processing procedure.
Should there not be a reconditioned device that meets your requirements, you can then request a new device. Please refer to the request processing procedure.
➢ Repairs
In case of a mechanical problem or breakage, you must go to the point of sale or service centre where the device was purchased or to a Service d’aides techniques (SAT) in your area.
