➢ Covering the cost of shoes

In most cases, personal insurance plans will cover the cost of shoes prescribed by a physician.

Other organizations such as the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CSST), the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), the Ministère de l’Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale (MESS) or the Fiducie de chaussures de l’île de Montréal may also help you cover these costs.

Specialty orthopedic shoes	Custom made shoes

• Specialty orthopedic shoes
  These shoes are prefabricated. They can occasionally be transformed or modified to accommodate slight foot deformations or to support and correct your gait.
• Custom made shoes
  These shoes, made by hand from plaster castings, are usually indicated in response to severe pathologies or deformations of your feet. These can also be referred to as orthotic shoes, molded shoes or made to order orthopedic shoes.
